In 2005 following the Ripley Village Plan Meeting, a committee was formed to begin work on setting up a Farmers' Market. An overwhelming number of people said that they would love to have a local market taking place in the centre of the village, providing another source of fresh and local produce as well as a wonderful monthly community meeting place.
Sally Erhardt's dream of setting up a local produce market reached fruition in June 2005 and on a hot summer's day the market was launched!
Over the years, all of our proceeds, less modest costs, have been ploughed back into our community and the Farmers' Market have supported many important Village causes from mending the Church clock to supporting the expansion of the village school and donating to the rebuilding fund for the village hall to name but a few.
Today, the market is still run by a strong team of volunteers, some of the original crew and a number of hard-working newer recruits.

This year’s bake off was an enormous success, we had over 50 entry’s from people making Cakes, Bread, and Half a dozen bakes. There were 6 Judges inspecting all the entrys with precision. Stu Henshall from 2015 Great British Bake Off and Julie Gray judged the Cakes section. Jilly Thomas and Mike Wall-Palmer Judged the Half a dozen sweet or savoury bakes category and Clare Pascoe and Steve and Lois Drake judged the Bread category. Matt Jelley was on the microphone doing an excellent job as compere for the third year running!
We raised £168 for CMV action and Woking Sam Beare Hospices. The farmers market committee and the Judges were delighted with the standard of the entrys and we hope that next year we will have even more contestants bakes to try!
